2006 Lotus Elise - Now Available!
Weighing just 1,984 lbs, the Elise was built around one idea - the driver comes first, everything else is optional.
This Elise doesnât try to impress you with horsepower. It does something far more interesting - it makes you question everything you thought you knew about what a sports car should be.
Under the clamshell sits a Toyota-sourced 1.8L inline-four producing 190 horsepower, backed by a slick 6-speed manual transmission. On paper, that sounds modest.
Behind the wheel, itâs anything but. Because when your car weighs under 2,000 lbs, physics stops working the way you expect.
The engine sits mid-mounted, just behind the driver, pushing weight distribution close to perfect.
Suspension is double wishbone at all four corners - the same setup youâd find on a racecar - and the steering is unassisted rack-and-pinion, meaning every texture, every camber change, every millimeter of traction is communicated directly through your hands.
Thereâs no traction control. No electronic buffer between you and the road. Just a chassis so precisely engineered that Lotus built an entire motorsport legacy on its back.
For context, a Porsche Boxster of the same year weighs almost 900 lbs more.

And no - itâs not an R8 replacement!
The Nuvolari borrows the Temerarioâs twin-turbo 4.0-liter V8, complete with 789 horsepower and a 10,000-rpm redline, and it adds three axial-flux electric motors to up total output to 987 horsepower.
Audi says top speed is âmore thanâ 217 mph and claims a 0-60 mph time of 2.6 seconds. Weâd guess thatâs conservative.
The Nuvolari project began just last March and was carried out by a small team working in utmost secrecy.
While Audi fans have been hoping for a new R8, the Nuvolari is not that. Itâs more like a limited-edition concept car that happens to be street legal, with a production run limited to 499 units and a base price of around $690,000 USD.
